Hygge Space Design
HYGGE: A cozy quality that makes a person feel content and comfortable
Get Inspired
When Bryan completes the renovations and leaves an empty canvass to design, the first thing I do is determine an intention for the space. The Feng Shui I wish to design sets the function, flow, and harmony of the home.
I'll admit that I am a minimialist at heart, and I prefer fewer intentional furniture and decor pieces over a busy space with too many inputs.
If you are like me, it is difficult to visualize the furniture and decor in the space, so I like to use HOMESTYLER. Its a visualization tool that allows tou to create your space in 3D, OR just let AI do it all for you with your phone. You can try it for free.

Shopping for Furniture
One of my favorite places to shop is LaZBoy because the designers will help you with furniture design layout. I also like to visit Pottery Barn because they are in a Hygge mood lately, and have some amazing pieces.
We purchase anchor furniture pieces there, however, we use their designs as inspiration, and purchase the majority of furniture, textiles, and decor pieces from our favorite online shops at a lower price point.
Our most recent discovery is an Amish made custom wood furniture distributor in Minnesota called QW Furniture. The prices are similar to the cheap engineered faux wood you'll find at your big showrooms. We just recieved 4 rooms of furniture for our beach condo. White glove delivery is $399 regardless of how many pieces in the order.
Hygge Area Rugs
Defining each space with an Area rug is critical to Feng Shui, especially on hard floor surfaces. It doesn't have to cost a fortune, but it always looks like it did.
My favorite shopping stops are HomeGoods, World Market, and Amazon.

Windows should be Picture Frames
Windows are meant to be a frame for the OUTDOOR art. Bryan used his jigsaw and a round piece of wood to make an Ohm outside the kitchen window! If you HAVE an amazing yard because you have an amazing Husband, show it off! (The outdoors, I mean, not the Husband).
Hygge Beach Decor
There's a surprisingly low inventory of beachy design by the coast, unless you want to pay tourist prices.
We usually drive to San Clemente to the Home Goods store in the spring, (after all the holidays are over). Lately, we are finding great pieces online. The coastal dishes I found? Wal-mart, Yep, Wal-mart.
