Budget Decor

Start with what you have

In many of my room makeovers, purchasing new furniture is not an option. I like to start with what I have, and my budget.

In this case, my dear sweet Husband tasked me with a design project for staging a living room, (that he filled with furniture he found on Facebook Marketplace), and a budget of $1000. I know right?

an old Boat that is about to be turned into wall art

I handed him color samples to paint the walls, the sideboard, the boat, and a list of hardware knobs and drawer pulls. I went shopping for a rug, throw pillows, an ottoman, and lamps. The anchor furniture pieces including the couch, loveseat, and end tables did not change. As this was a staging design, I avoided wall art and decor, as the goal of staging is to make the space seem brighter, uncluttered and spacious.

This makeover was $200 in paint, $200 for the rug, $50 for throw pillows, $20 for new sideboard hardware, and $70 for the lamps. I'm keeping the LaZboy ottoman price tag a secret.
